Nowadays, organisations are facing frequent changes. These changes may occur due to business redefinition, to reorganisation either expected or provoked... In order to rapidly align IT services on businesses requirements, there is a growing need to build standard, flexible and cost-effective IT infrastructures.
At the same time, these IT infrastructures are themselves evolving rapidly. Change factors essentially include the opening of internal core business systems to clients and partners and the constant evolution of technical concepts and techniques.
From the end-user perspective, the application landscape includes more and more applications and these are run either internally within the organization's perimeter or externally, i.e. by an organization's partner.
In this overall context, the mission of the IT manager is more and more oriented towards the management of organisation's changes: - alignment of the IT objectives on the business objectives; - definition of the IT strategy and IT projects roadmap; - management awareness and commitment towards proposed strategy and roadmap; - control of the implementation, delivery and support processes.
Paradigmo's proposed approach to answer these concerns is represented by the diagram on the right. The Risk Assessment is based on our Risk Management expertise and framework. It will derive the organisation overall business requirements, in terms of functionality and/or security. After having clarified and assessed the roadmap and priorities with the management, it is suggested to implement the roadmap through a modular approach, which has three significant advantages:
- it provides better control of the implementation costs and delays; - it authorises to realise quick wins to meet organisation's objectives; - it authorises to re-align IT roadmap on business objectives.
